Platysmaplasty (neck lift) Newport Beach

Correcting a sagging neck

The platsyma muscle is a thin flat support layer of muscle beneath the skin in the neck. It provides a smooth contour and protection over the underlying nerves, vessels and other structures of the neck. With time the edge of this muscle between the chin and sternum becomes prominent, either from loosening or enlargement. This leads to a blunting effect on the angle between the chin and neck. In thinner people, the muscle edges can often be seen as vertical bands or cords. Most of the time, the appearance can be improved by a combination of firming them with sutures or weakening them with relaxing incisions. Other times, Botox and similar injections can relax the muscle to make it less noticeable. The majority of the time, a platysmaplasty is performed with another procedure to firm the overlying skin.

Lower face and neck lifts

Shorter recovery times and natural looking results are our goal for your facelift. Thousands of procedures have led to the evolution the lower face and neck lift. This incorporates a combination of highly effective facelift techniques, customized for maximum results in each person. Most commonly, the facelift procedure includes liposuction contouring, tightening of underlying muscles with sutures in combination with neck tightening, and removal of excess skin. The incisions are placed in natural folds and hidden by hair when possible, to make them less conspicuous with normal healing. Facelift incisions can be adjusted to achieve the best results for you. The facelift procedure can be performed with other enhancement procedures for greater effect. The result is amazing with a natural elevation of the lower face, jawline and neck contour. Marionette lines and nasolabial folds are also softened. Sutures are usually removed after one week. Variable bruising and swelling continues to resolve over the next couple of weeks in most people.

Fat Transfer Newport Beach

Renewing the Cheeks

Our top Newport Beach Surgeons offer face fat transfer procedures to the residents of Newport Beach and Orange County, California.

Restoring volume to the face is now an essential component of a pleasing facial rejuvenation. Although there are several synthetic fillers available, fat is the most natural volumizer and has the longest potential duration. Fat is harvested by liposuction from an ample donor site on the body like the abdomen. It is then processed and injected into various areas of the face. Over time, much of the fat will incorporate and even enlarge once it establishes a blood supply. Due to variability of healing, facial fat grafting may require more than one session over a period of several months to achieve the desired result. Including the time to process the fat, the procedure usually takes about one hour. Facial fat grafting can easily be incorporated into a face lift or mini facelift session.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid) Newport Beach

Peel away the years

Wrinkling and sagging in the area around the eyes can add years to a person’s appearance and even impair vision. Puffiness or sagging below the eyes can make a person look old and tired. The same is true of the eyelids, which can also droop enough to partially block the field of vision. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is the general term for procedures performed in the area around the eyes to correct these problems.

To reduce puffiness and sagging under the eyes of patients, your Newport Center for Special Surgery surgeons can remove excess skin and fat. To restore a youthful, rested appearance to the eyelid, an incision can be made in the crease above the eye. Once excess skin has been removed, the eyelid will also be tighter and smoother, keeping it well clear of the field of vision.

In rare cases in which drooping eyelids are the cause of significant loss of vision, eyelid surgery may be covered by health insurance, but only if prescribed by an ophthalmologist.
