Interventional pain management, at NCSS.

Ultrasound-guided epidural, facet, sacroiliac, genicular, and trigger point injections — performed by our medical director, Dr. Rand Scott, in our AAAHC-accredited operating rooms.

The Category

Pain management, done at the same standard.

NCSS's medical director, Dr. Rand Scott, is a board-certified anesthesiologist with a subspecialty in pain management. He founded Newport Pain Management in 1996 — the same year NCSS opened — and continues to see pain patients at that practice. When those patients need interventional procedures, he performs them here.

What separates the pain program at NCSS from the typical pain clinic: ultrasound guidance rather than fluoroscopy. Radiofrequency ablation and sympathetic blocks — two techniques that have fallen out of favor in the pain literature for their limited long-term benefit — are not offered. What is offered is what actually helps: precise, ultrasound-guided injections of steroid and local anesthetic to the specific anatomic targets driving your pain, performed by the physician himself in an accredited operating room.

The other separator: no radiation. Fluoroscopy exposes both the patient and the physician to cumulative X-ray dose across a lifetime of injections. Ultrasound uses no radiation at all. For patients receiving multiple injections over time, this is not a trivial consideration.

What We Offer

Five blocks. All ultrasound-guided.

Why NCSS for Pain Management

Four reasons this practice.

The difference between a pain clinic and a surgical facility doing pain right.

ULTRASOUND GUIDANCE, NO FLUOROSCOPY

No X-ray radiation to you, none to the physician. Real-time soft-tissue visualization. The modern standard for the blocks we offer.

THE PHYSICIAN DOES THE BLOCK

Not a technician. Not a physician assistant. Every injection performed by Dr. Rand Scott personally.

EVIDENCE-BASED PROCEDURE SELECTION

Only procedures with high-quality literature support are offered. Techniques that have fallen out of favor — radiofrequency ablation, sympathetic blocks — are not part of our program.

SAME PERIOPERATIVE STANDARD

Every pain injection at NCSS is performed in an AAAHC-accredited operating room with the same monitoring, sterility, and physician oversight as our surgical cases.

Where to Begin

The right starting point is a conversation.

Every scheduled surgical patient is offered a free Rest-Assure pre-operative consultation with Dr. Rand Scott personally — medical history, medication planning, and discharge coordination before the day of surgery.
