Not one treatment. An ongoing practice.
Skin rejuvenation is the category that lives between injectables and lasers on one side and the everyday routine of skincare on the other. It covers medical-grade treatments that address skin quality without needles and without the recovery of laser resurfacing: chemical peels of varying depths, hydrating and exfoliating treatments like HydraFacial, physical exfoliation via dermaplaning, and the prescription-strength skincare that supports skin health between visits.
What distinguishes medical skin rejuvenation from spa-level care is medical supervision, prescription-grade product access, and integration with your broader treatment plan. A HydraFacial delivered as part of comprehensive skincare planning — timed to work with your injectables, your laser treatments, and your at-home regimen — produces different long-term results than the same treatment delivered as a standalone spa service.
Skin rejuvenation at NCSS is delivered by our clinical team as part of your broader care plan. It works alongside surgical, injectable, and laser treatments — not as a replacement for any of them, but as the foundation and maintenance that makes the rest of the work look better and last longer.
Eight presentations this category addresses.
Baseline skincare optimization
Patients who have never had a structured skincare regimen and want medical guidance on what actually works for their skin type. The consultation itself may be the highest-value visit.
Dullness, uneven tone, and mild sun damage
Regular chemical peels (superficial to medium depth) and HydraFacial treatments address surface concerns without laser recovery.
Acne management (adult acne, hormonal acne)
Chemical peels, dermaplaning, and medical-grade skincare can address active breakouts and post-inflammatory pigmentation. Coordination with medical acne treatment if needed.
Melasma and hyperpigmentation
Requires careful, staged approach — the wrong treatment can worsen melasma. Prescription-strength topicals combined with gentle rejuvenation treatments are typically the safest path.
Between surgical or laser treatments
Skin rejuvenation extends the results of surgical or laser work. Maintenance treatments make investment-level procedures look better for longer.
Pre-event glow
Timed chemical peels or HydraFacial for a specific event — wedding, reunion, photography — when done at the right interval before the event.
Preventive care for younger patients
Patients in their 20s and 30s establishing skincare habits that pay off decades later. Prevention is dramatically less expensive than correction.
Realistic expectations about the pace of results
Skin rejuvenation is series-based. Meaningful change typically requires 3–6 treatments over weeks to months. Not a single-visit transformation.
Three stages, one procedure.
Skin rejuvenation encompasses several complementary treatment categories. A well-designed plan usually combines multiple modalities:
Chemical peels — superficial
Glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and similar mild acids applied to the skin surface. Address dullness, mild texture, and superficial pigmentation. Minimal to no downtime; delivered in a series of 4–6 sessions.
Chemical peels — medium depth
TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels of moderate concentration. Address more significant sun damage, fine lines, and pigmentation. Some visible peeling for 5–7 days.
Chemical peels — deeper (Jessner, higher-concentration TCA)
More significant results, more recovery. Usually reserved for specific presentations where the benefit justifies the recovery.
HydraFacial and similar hydrating treatments
Simultaneous exfoliation, extraction, and hydration through a specialized delivery system. Excellent maintenance treatment; no downtime; suitable at essentially any interval.
Dermaplaning
Manual physical exfoliation using a specialized blade — removes surface dead skin and vellus hair. Immediate result, no recovery. Often combined with a chemical peel in the same visit.
Medical-grade skincare
Prescription-strength retinoids (tretinoin, tazarotene), hydroquinone for pigmentation, prescription vitamin C, growth factor serums. Medical supervision matters — some of these products can be irritating or misused without guidance.
Integration with other treatments
Skin rejuvenation timing coordinates with laser treatments, injectables, and surgical recovery. Some products or treatments must be paused around certain procedures; some enhance recovery from others.
Consultation designs a plan for your specific skin type, concerns, budget, and lifestyle. There is no template; individualized care is the point.
Two sites. One recovery.
Skin rejuvenation recovery varies by treatment depth. Realistic expectations:
None. Skin looks better immediately; makeup can be worn same day if desired.
None. Immediate smooth result; makeup applies more evenly afterward.
Mild redness for a few hours to a day. Some patients experience light peeling over the following 2–3 days. Makeup can typically be worn the following day.
Visible peeling and flaking for 5–7 days. Most patients stay home from public settings for the first few days. Sun protection is essential during and after healing.
Extended peeling, more significant redness, stricter sun protection requirements for weeks. Detailed post-procedure protocol required.
Prescription retinoids typically cause an adjustment period of 4–6 weeks with some irritation, flaking, and sensitivity. This settles as skin acclimates. Not a reason to discontinue — this is the medication working.
Strict sun protection is essential across all rejuvenation modalities. Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. This is non-negotiable if you want long-term results.
Consistent skin rejuvenation care produces cumulative benefits over years. Patients who have maintained a structured plan for 5+ years typically look meaningfully different than they otherwise would — not just from any single treatment, but from the compound effect of consistent care.
