Dr. Marguerite Bernett

Dr. Marguerite J. Bernett is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has practiced in Newport Beach for over a quarter century. Her medical degree is from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine — the same institution that trained Dr. Toohey a few years ahead of her — and she completed her plastic surgery training on the West Coast before establishing her Newport Beach practice in 1999.

Her office is at 1401 Avocado Avenue, Suite 101 — the same suite as NCSS — and she has been an affiliated surgeon here since her practice opened. Her consultations, non-surgical treatments, and surgeries all take place within the same building, an unusual continuity for aesthetic patients who otherwise navigate three or four separate offices for a single treatment plan.

Her scope of practice is genuinely broad. On the aesthetic side, she performs breast surgery (augmentation, lift, reduction, revision), body contouring (liposuction, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, surgery after weight loss), facial surgery (facelift, brow lift, cheek and chin enhancement), and natural fat transfer. On the reconstructive side, she performs skin cancer surgery and reconstruction following Mohs procedures, scar revision, and wound care. She is also highly experienced in performing many procedures comfortably without the need for general anesthesia.

For her non-surgical patients, she offers curated injectable, laser, and skin-rejuvenation treatments through her medical spa — performed and supervised by her, not delegated to rotating staff.

She is fluent in Spanish and Italian, and consults with patients in all three languages.

Most aesthetic plastic surgeons practice one register: pure elective cosmetic work. Most reconstructive plastic surgeons practice another: post-cancer, post-trauma, post-injury work. Dr. Bernett practices both — and does so from a single office where a patient can be treated for a Mohs defect on one visit and for cosmetic body contouring on another.

She is also one of a small number of surgeons in the area who offer substantial procedures comfortably without general anesthesia, an approach that opens surgical options to patients for whom general anesthesia is inadvisable, undesired, or unnecessary.

Nine of ten patients at NCSS are women. For breast surgery, intimate work, and post-partum reconstruction, many of them specifically request a female surgeon. Dr. Bernett is one of the surgeons who makes that possible without leaving the building.
