Dr. Douglas Hendricks

Dr. Douglas L. Hendricks is one of a rare group of surgeons certified by three separate American medical boards: the American Board of Plastic Surgery (initial certification 1992, held continuously since), the American Board of Surgery, and the Diplomate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand (1993, held through multiple recertification cycles). Only two of the surgeons on our roster carry board certification in surgery of the hand alongside plastic surgery — Dr. Hendricks and Dr. Nichter.

His education began at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts and high honors in microbiology. He earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, completed a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, and returned to complete his plastic surgery residency.

He established Pacifica Cosmetic Surgery Center in Newport Beach approximately twenty years ago and continues to practice there today. He has been an affiliated surgeon at NCSS since his practice opened.

Dr. Hendricks is a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery — four of the most selective societies in the specialty. He has delivered more than 100 presentations at national and regional meetings and has authored multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Hendricks has practiced under a single guiding principle for the length of his career: 'Plastic surgery must always whisper — and never scream.' It is his stated motto, and it is the aesthetic that has drawn patients to his practice for two decades.
